Israeli Knesset gets ejected for holding pro-Palestinian signs
(MENAFN) Two members of Israel’s Knesset were expelled from the chamber on Monday after displaying pro-Palestinian signs during a speech by US President Donald Trump.
Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif, lawmakers representing the predominantly Arab Hadash-Ta’al alliance, raised posters reading “Recognize Palestine!”—a move that immediately sparked loud objections from other parliamentarians.
Trump briefly halted his remarks and stood silently as security escorted the two MPs out of the hall. Once order was restored, he commented, “That was very efficient,” before resuming his address.
Following the incident, Cassif took to social media, saying that Trump was “part of the problem, not a solution,” and arguing that “true peace requires an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.”
Odeh likewise defended his protest, writing, “They kicked me out of the Knesset just for raising the simplest demand, one that the whole international community agrees on: Recognize the State of Palestine!”
Trump’s visit to Israel came as part of his efforts to oversee the execution of a ceasefire deal he helped broker, under which Hamas released the final 20 hostages in exchange for the freedom of roughly 2,000 Palestinian detainees.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump during the event, calling him the “greatest friend” his nation has ever had.
